History
Cantine di Nessuno was created to showcase the heroic viticulture of Mount Etna through native grape varieties and individual volcanic contrade. The winery’s name reflects the idea that Etna’s land has passed through countless hands over the centuries and therefore belongs, in a sense, to everyone and to “no one”. Milus is part of the estate’s Contrada selection and comes from Contrada Volpare in Milo, the only municipality where Etna DOC regulations allow the production of Etna Bianco Superiore.
Grape variety
80% Carricante, 20% other white grape varieties.
Vinification
The grapes come from Contrada Volpare on Mount Etna’s eastern slope, at approximately 600-650 metres above sea level, on volcanic sandy soils. After harvesting, the grapes undergo gentle pressing. The wine spends approximately 3-4 months in used oak tonneaux, followed by ageing in stainless steel and further maturation in bottle. This restrained use of oak adds complexity and texture while preserving Carricante’s freshness and distinctive mineral character.
Alcohol content
13% ABV.
Tasting notes
Deep straw yellow with golden reflections. The bouquet is refined and complex, revealing white flowers, orange blossom and fresh citron peel alongside aromatic herbs and distinctive marine and mineral nuances. The palate is full and enveloping yet driven by vibrant acidity and pronounced salinity. The finish is exceptionally persistent, with citrus and saline notes highlighting the wine’s volcanic origins.
Food pairings
Excellent with raw seafood, oysters, shellfish, seafood pasta, grilled or baked fish and white meats. Its structure and mineral character also make it a fine match for grilled vegetables, fresh cheeses and flavourful Mediterranean dishes.
