History
Cigliano di Sopra is located in San Casciano in Val di Pesa, in the northern part of the Chianti Classico appellation. The estate is run by Matteo Vaccari and Maddalena Fucile, whose experience in leading wineries in Italy and abroad has shaped a philosophy based on organic farming, spontaneous fermentations and precise terroir expression.
Grape variety
Sangiovese 100%.
Vinification
The grapes are hand-harvested and vinified separately by vineyard parcel. Around 20–30% whole clusters are retained during spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel, concrete and open-top wooden vats. Maceration lasts between 15 and 25 days before the wine ages for approximately 14 months in barriques, tonneaux and large oak casks. It is bottled without filtration to preserve purity and character. The Magnum follows the same production process as the standard bottle while offering greater ageing potential.

Tasting notes
Deep ruby red in colour. Aromas of cherry, black cherry, pomegranate and red berries are complemented by hints of tobacco, forest floor and delicate spices. The palate is vibrant and harmonious, with silky tannins, lively acidity and a long mineral finish marked by red fruit and subtle spice.
Food pairings
Perfect with Florentine steak, rosemary-grilled beef, roasted meats, braised dishes, light game, Tuscan ragù pasta, peposo, cured meats and aged cheeses. The Magnum format is particularly suited to festive meals and long-term cellaring.
