History
Il Monticello is a family-owned winery based in Sarzana, at the heart of the Colli di Luni appellation. The Neri family has established the estate as one of Liguria’s leading producers by combining sustainable viticulture with deep respect for the local terroir. Influenced by cooling sea breezes and sheltered by the Apuan Alps, the vineyards produce Vermentino wines of remarkable character and ageing potential.
Grape variety
100% Vermentino.
Vinification
The grapes come from Guyot-trained vineyards planted at a density of approximately 4,800 vines per hectare. After gentle pressing, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks between 14 and 18 °C. The wine is then aged for several months in stainless steel before bottling to preserve its aromatic purity, freshness and saline character.

Tasting notes
Bright straw yellow with golden highlights. The nose reveals ripe white peach, fleshy orchard fruit, elegant floral aromas and delicate citrus notes. On the palate it is full-bodied and rounded, yet lifted by vibrant freshness and pronounced salinity, leading to a long, harmonious finish with lingering citrus nuances.
Food pairings
Excellent with raw seafood, oysters, shellfish, seafood risotto, grilled or baked fish, while its structure also makes it an outstanding partner for delicate white meats such as Ligurian-style rabbit and Mediterranean cuisine.
